About Us
Meet Megan Buffum
Hi, I'm Megan and I opened up Aesthetic Sugaring in 2020 after the shut down. I worked other places previously and took a leap of faith by going on my own. I love what I do for a living, and continuing my education. I'm currently renting a room out inside of a tea, herb, crystal shop and a massage therapist. Inside the store you'll notice essential oils, local honey, tea, herbs and much more. Many people ask me why I enjoy my job and that's easy. The part I love the most is seeing people smile and feel better about themselves (not that there is anything wrong in the first place. you are all beautiful) I will not judge, and I strive to help you feel comfortable and confident. I'm starting to specialize in sensitive skincare with Hale and Hush. Now I can help even more people. I look forward to meeting you and helping you begin your skincare journey!

How to prepare for appointment

-trimming is allowed as long as it's still half inch long
-confirm appointment, location, detours and find street parking
-make sure that any medications or health factors are not counterindications to sugaring (blood thinners, Accutane, herpes, HIV, etc.
-feel free to reach out to Megan with any questions or concerns.
-Let hair grow to 1/4-1/2 inch minimum
(7-10 days minimum growth after shaving for good results)
If you come during off business hours of the tea shop (11am-6pm) I will need to unlock the door for you so please let me know when you have arrived.

AFTER CARE
Exfoliate with a salt, sugar or chemical exfoliant 48 hours after service. Continue to do so 3x a week. Use upwards circular motions while exfoliating. It should not be painful. There's more on my homepage on ingrown hairs.
Avoid wearing tight clothing and harsh chemicals, like artificial fragrance.
Moisturize and drink plenty of water. This will help make the hair stronger to avoid breakage.
(do not use any lotion or oils the day of appointment)
NO SHAVING. Shaving will throw off the growth pattern, eliminate any progress we made, raise the chance of receiving ingrown hairs and make the hair harder to be removed.
Keep the sugared area clean for up to 72 hours to avoid Folliculitis.
Do NOT use Dove product. I've seen this product trap hair under it's film residue causing ingrown hairs. Other products may do the same but this is the main culprit to causing ingrown hairs.
If you do develop ingrown hairs, there are a few choices. I offer an ingrown hair service and product. Be very careful and sanitary if you are going to tweeze. It may cause scaring and infection if done improperly. Keep up on exfoliating or switch the product up. Some laundry detergents may cause skin irritation so that is good to keep in mind. I know we all love our yoga pants but friction from tight clothing causes friction. The rubbing of the material, fragrance, and skin may lead to skin irritation. This mainly is recommended for the day of and day after getting sugared. Not all body areas have the same amount of maintenance. These recommendations are based around Brazilians and legs.
For armpits, you will want to avoid non-natural deodorant for the remainder of the day (especially deodorants that contain baking soda.) I will have to cleanse off deodorant before starting to help give better and cleaner results. Arrowroot powder will be left on to act as a deodorant for the remainder of the day.

Invest into your skincare with professional and medical brands, Farmhouse Fresh, Hale & Hush, Skin Script, Skin Ceuticicals, Emininence and PCA skincare are all amazing professional brands. Lastly, don't forget your SPF! (avoid Benzene)​

ABOUT SUGARING
Sugar paste is massaged onto the skin by a gloved hand and then molded against the natural direction of hair growth. The hair is gently removed in the same direction that the hair grows which reduces the chance of ingrown hairs and breakage.
Sugaring is an ancient art of hair removal.
The honey looking sugar paste is made up of all natural ingredients. The ingredients that make up the paste are sugar, lemon and water. The paste is also water-soluble so it can be wiped off with a damp washcloth.
We use powder during our sugaring services because the sugar cannot attach itself to anything damp. Live skin cells have moisture so the sugar will not pull on the live skin causing this hair removal service to be more gentle on the skin.
Please do not shave in between appointments because it’ll throw off the growth cycle. It can take up to 3 appointments to get all of you hairs in the same growth cycle so the hair will be gone for longer. This also means no depilatory creams.
Since there is no stick or strips with sugaring there is a very slight chance of contamination.
Generally sugaring hair removal lasts between 4-6 weeks, depending on the level of growth and how regular you are sugaring. This varies from one person to another and is also depending on the body area. Pulling the hair out prior to 4 weeks may throw off the growth cycle so try to avoid that.
Exfoliate the areas being sugared before your appointment and 48 hours after. You’ll have better results when you skin is healthy.
Avoid putting lotions or oils on the area that will be sugared
We cannot wax or sugar over sunburned skin or if you use Accutane or retin-A
Please refrain from wearing tight clothing around the area that will be sugared.
How long the sugaring last depends on each person. There are three separate growth cycles for you hair. On your fist sugaring visit, we get the first, second, and part of the third growth cycles of your hair. Once returning to get sugared two or three times, we start getting all three hair cycled out at the same time. As you continue to get sugared the longer the results you’ll receive.
With sugaring, your hair will grow back thinner and many clients report a noticeable reduction of hair growth.
When choosing body sugaring as your hair removal choice, your first three appointments are the most important. It is important that your first three sugaring sessions are booked between 4-6 weeks. If you are planning to use sugaring to soften and reduce hair growth regular sugaring treatments result in slower growth of hair and is thorough. Many find that sugaring is less painful and in most cases lead to permanent hair loss.
Your first Brazilian appointment may take between 30-45 minutes (female) depending on how long your hair is and if you have been waxing or sugaring prior. Your next appointments will be shorter and be less painful if booked on time.
Keep your skin clean 24-48 hours after the service. Avoid:
-Activates that may lead to excessive perspiration. This includes sex.
-Avoid hot tubs and swimming pools.
